PSPS Event Information

A public safety power shutoff, or PSPS, is when an electric utility turns off power to an area of higher wildfire risk during extreme weather. A PSPS is a last resort to prevent wildfires and keep our communities safe. Our goal is to minimize the risk of fire while balancing the impact outages have on our customers.

Customers outside active PSPS areas may also experience outages due to high winds, enhanced protection settings on our lines that help prevent wildfire ignitions when a fault is detected, or other factors. Outages may last longer than usual since we’ll need to inspect the lines to make sure we can re-energize them safely.
