Fish Stocking Schedule

To improve fishing, Idaho Power stocks fish throughout the year. Following are the types and amounts of fish we release and when and where we release them:

American Falls Reservoir Rainbow Trout

  • Approximately 8,000 in the fall (Specific dates vary based on conditions.)
  • Approximately 12 inches at release

Milner Reservoir Channel Catfish

  • Burley Bridge Access – 10,000 in June
  • Heyburn Bridge Access – 10,000 in June

Hagerman Valley Rainbow Trout

  • Average 10-12 inches at release

Upper Salmon Falls Reservoir

  • Centennial Park near Twin Falls – 4,000 in October

Lower Salmon Falls Reservoir

  • Bell Rapids Boat Ramp – 15,000 in October

C.J. Strike Rainbow Trout

  • Average 10 inches at release
  • Cottonwood Access: Bruneau Pool – 50,000 in March and 52,250 in October

Boise River Steelhead

  • When surplus fish are available, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game typically releases steelhead in November.
