As wildfires continue to burn around the region, first responders like firefighters and utility line crews work hard to keep communities safe and connected. Idaho Power has been working with fire agencies to safely gain access to restore power after fires have swept through areas. They also recently partnered with local fire departments to raise awareness of electrical safety hazards firefighters may encounter on the job.
Idaho Power skills trainers and safety professionals hosted a day-long event with several stations for the firefighters on topics ranging from downed power lines on cars to substation awareness to rescue procedures. The event allowed first responders from both industries to share information and learn from each other. A common goal was mentioned by all participants: keeping our communities, and other first responders, safe.
You can check out Idaho Power’s video highlighting the event and hear from first responders on Idaho Power’s YouTube channel.
