Friday, June 18, is National Go Fishing Day. Idaho is an awesome place to enjoy fishing and the great outdoors. Here are three tips to help make your trip a success:
- Do your research. Idaho is home to trout, salmon, bass, panfish, catfish, sturgeon and more. Visit the Idaho Fish & Game website to learn which species are swimming in local waters.
- Stay safe. Wear a lifejacket on the water, follow boating safety rules, wear sunscreen, stay hydrated and watch for rattlesnakes, poison ivy and other potential dangers.
- Visit Idaho Power’s parks and campgrounds. Our company operates dozens of boat launches, campgrounds and recreational facilities along the Snake River. One of our most popular spots is C.J. Strike Reservoir, where anglers enjoy camping, boating, fish cleaning stations and the chance to catch a variety of species — including thousands of rainbow trout stocked every year by Idaho Power.
Learn more about Idaho Power’s fish stocking programs on our website. Information about fishing rules, licenses and more is available at idfg.idaho.gov.
