Campfires Banned at Two Large Idaho Power Campgrounds

Due to extreme heat and dry conditions, campfires are temporarily banned at Idaho Power’s Woodhead Park campground in Hells Canyon and at Cottonwood Campground at C.J. Strike Reservoir south of Mountain Home. All open flames including charcoal grills are prohibited. Campers can still use gas grills for cooking.

Although fires are currently permitted at other Idaho Power campgrounds within installed fire rings, the company is urging campers to use extreme caution as summer temperatures ramp up. Additional restrictions may be announced as hot, dry conditions persist.

Current fire restrictions and other recreation updates can be found at idahopower.com/whatsopen.

Idaho Power owns and operates numerous recreation sites along the Snake River as part of its licenses to operate its hydroelectric projects.
