Idaho Power Focuses on Safety, Reliability, Affordability while Pursuing Clean Energy Goal

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission is accepting comments on Idaho Power’s most recent long-term energy plan. The 2023 Integrated Resource Plan sets the company’s course for the next 20 years as it addresses growing demand while working toward its goal of 100% clean energy by 2045.

In a new video, Idaho Power highlights steps the company is taking to maintain safety, reliability, and affordability while pursuing its clean energy goal. The two and a half-minute video describes efforts to strengthen the grid, investments in new technologies like batteries, and the importance of high-voltage transmission lines like Boardman to Hemingway.

Hydroelectric energy from dams on the Snake River and its tributaries remains Idaho Power’s largest energy source. The company is converting some of its coal-fired power plants to natural gas as an interim step toward cleaner energy without sacrificing safety, reliability, or affordability.

The video is available on the company’s YouTube channel (youtube.com/idahopower). Customers can review the long-range plan at idahopower.com/irp and submit comments to the IPUC until Feb. 15.
