Put Safety First During Deadliest Days of Driving

As the weather warms up and days get longer, drivers spend more time on the road. Idaho Power is no stranger to the road, with employees driving more than 11 million miles per year for work. “Safety first” is the most important thing they keep in mind while driving.

Idaho Power reminds customers to be engaged and limit distractions as we enter the 100 deadliest days of driving — the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day. You can also help prevent wildfires, and potential power outages, by not driving, parking, or dragging chains in dry grass where heat or a spark could ignite a fire.

The company also recommends carrying an emergency car kit, because you never know what you may encounter. These kits have come in handy for numerous Idaho Power employees as they have traveled across southern Idaho and eastern Oregon and have come across other motorists in need.
