Idaho Power is marking National Electrical Safety Month by sharing ways you can keep your home and family safe.
- Inspect power cords, and replace any that are damaged or frayed.
- Don’t plug too many cords into one outlet, and if you have young children, place safety covers on outlets.
- Keep electric appliances away from water, and ensure any outlets near water sources — such as bathrooms or kitchens — are GFCI protected.
- When doing yard work, flying kites or drones, or enjoying other outdoor activities — stay away from power lines. These lines are energized and coming into contact with them is dangerous.
- May is also Water Safety Month, so if you’re planning to boat, fish or explore the shoreline at any of Idaho Power’s reservoirs along the Snake River, learn how to stay safe around dams at idahopower.com/safety.
