Idaho Power Makes $100,000 Commitment to Boise Downtown YMCA

Supporting community and educational organizations — particularly those focused on helping youth — is an important part of Idaho Power’s role in communities across its service area. Our company and employees are longtime supporters of the YMCA, and that commitment will continue thanks to a $100,000 donation to the Boise Downtown Y’s annual campaign.

The capital campaign’s goal is to fund a new YMCA near the current location in downtown Boise.

Idaho Power will give $20,000 per year to the campaign over the next five years. The funds are being provided by the Idaho Power Foundation, and they will not impact customer rates.

“The Treasure Valley YMCA’s stated mission is to ‘strengthen the foundations of community by developing successful youth, engaging people in healthy living, and instilling a commitment to social responsibility,’” said Idaho Power CFO Brian Buckham. “Like Idaho Power, it’s a service-driven organization with a strong commitment to its customers, and it makes a difference in our communities. We have been proud to support multiple YMCAs in our service area, and this contribution will help to further the YMCA’s important mission.”

Buckham delivered the donation to YMCA CEO David Duro in the Downtown YMCA Vision Room, which has renderings of the future facility. To learn more about the campaign, visit ymcatvidaho.org.
