Twin Falls Reservoir Will be Lowered Monday Night

TWIN FALLS, IDAHO — The water level at Twin Falls Reservoir will be drawn down starting Monday night and will be 18 inches below the current level by 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12. This is necessary for Idaho Power to conduct a routine inspection of the Twin Falls Dam.

The reservoir will begin to refill as soon as the survey is complete, and should be back to normal levels by the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 13. Access to Twin Falls Park will not be impacted, but the boat ramp will only be usable for small boats and trailers during the drawdown. Visitors should watch for truck traffic in the area as a contractor begins preparations for a separate construction project at the park. Details are available at idahopower.com/twinfalls.

Idaho Power built the original Twin Falls hydroelectric plant in 1935 and updated it in 1995 with a diversion structure and two powerhouses. It has a generating capacity of 52,898 kilowatts — enough to power about 40,000 average-sized homes.
